The Havasu Story

Years ago my husband Bruce surfed and I joined him sometimes but I really wasn't a fan of waking up at 4:00 am to squeeze into a wet suit and get pummeled  by waves.. We also noticed one day that it took us away from family and that we needed to enjoy another water sport that the entire family could enjoy. That is what brought us to buying a boat "A Big Yellow Boat"a Reinell, That way everyone could see us coming and see us do stupid things like forgetting to put the plug in the boat before entering the water. One day Bruce took the boat out with all the kids while I was at work, and I thought that was so sweet until the kids walked in at the end of the day and all of them were saying to me at the same time "The Boat Caught Fire"!!!!! Yes the boat caught fire, because apparently there was a warning alarm signal going off in the boat that the kids and Bruce heard and Bruce said "I'm not sure what that means". But the kids enjoyed the excitement of jumping overboard and getting toed in by the rescue boat.

If you ever want to test your marriage buy a boat and launch it together for the first time. But actually now that I think about it, our marriage gets tested every launch and docking. Me in the truck backing down the long ramp, Bruce yelling STRAIGHTEN IT OUT!!! Me -"I'm trying"!!!  Add 115 degrees and Lord have mercy.

So you probably are wondering why we still enjoy boating. Well, we got rid of the big yellow boat and bought a new boat, a Moomba. I actually got to pick out the colors this time, a nice blue and white combo. So far we have had good luck in the Moomba. But actually we have great memories of the yellow boat and hope to make new memories on our Moomba.

Being blessed by Bruce's family trust, we decided to build our retirement home in Lake Havasu City Az. While we continue to keep our current careers, we look forward to enjoying the lake with family and friends as often as possible.

It was fun decorating the house and putting my touches to it. It felt like we were newlyweds because we never had a new house together and we really did enjoy making the decisions together. As we made the decisions we kept in mind that we would be renting it out in order to ensure that we could reduce the monthly cost. So the home is warm and cozy and 5 minutes from the launch ramp, with a beautiful view that we will share with our friends and family.
